"5 Reasons You've Gotta Have Gomashio!"

It kind of looks like Parmesan Cheese or Bread Crumbs but.... it's Sesame Seeds! One of the world's healthiest foods and this Asian Condiment, generally used for Japanese dishes can be used to top Pasta, Vegetables, Soups etc. Either way, you want to have some because it has so much to offer as far as health benefits. So let's get to it:

1. Sesame Seeds are a store house of Minerals such as Copper, Manganese (one of my favorites because it helps to reduce wrinkles and build strong bones), Calcium and Fiber just to name a few.

2. Regular consumption of Sesame Seeds has been said to prevent and reduce the effects of Rheumatoid Arthritis.

3. Sesame Seeds can help to lower Cholesterol Levels.

4. When Sesame Seeds are toasted (such as Gomashio), it brings out the natural oils enhancing flavor, it's antioxidant properties and Vitamin E. Basically your skin will love you for it!

5. It's just freakin Yummy!

Aside from the health benefits (which could take up a few Blogs), if you lightly season it with Pink or Sea Salt, maybe even a little Basil and Thyme, you've got yourself a delicious topping. Recipe is listed below:

Warm a mid size Stainless Steel Pan on Medium Low Heat. Add 1 cup of Raw Organic Sesame Seeds and slightly increase the heat. Once you begin to smell the toasted aroma start to stir and mix them so they don't burn. Continue to stir until Golden Brown or for 3 -5 minutes. Add 1/4 tsp of Pink or Sea Salt, or even Seaweed (added Iodine and a nice salty flavor as well) and remove from heat. Place in a food processor, bullet or high speed blender while heated and blend until bread crumb consistency. Use right away or store covered in the refrigerator.
