Fried Orange Glazed Cauliflower
Yum, Yum, Yum!! This recipe is one it took me a while to get right because there are so many different Flowers available but the one that I got the best results with as far as flavor and breading is Garbanzo Bean Flower. It creates a nice breading in both low and high heat when frying. If you've followed my Blogs long at all, you know I am not a fan of frying but this is an every now and again treat of a recipe that I am excited to share.
What you will need:
(Fried Cauliflower)
1 Cup of Garbanzo Bean Flower
1/2 Cup of warm water
1 1/2 cup of Canola or Sunflower Oil
A Large Head of Cauliflower
Pink Himalayan Sea Salt
Pepper
A large deep pot to use for frying
(Orange Sauce)
A cup of Fresh Squeezed OJ
1/3 cup of Water
Red Pepper Flakes
1/4 tsp of Raw Blue Agave Nectar
Minced Garlic (if you choose)
1 tbsp of Arrowroot powder
Medium sized skillet
Recipe:
Add Oil to a deep dish frying pan and warm over medium heat. Mix Garbanzo Bean Flower and water until the consistency is a thick batter and let sit to the side. Chop your Cauliflower into bite sized pieces and season with salt and pepper to taste. Once the Oil is ready (I add a drop of water to the oil, if it pops, it's ready to fry) add the battered Cauliflower to the Oil. Remove Cauliflower when the batter is golden brown and sit to the side.
Let your skillet warm over low heat then add the Water and Arrowroot powder, whisk together quickly and it let the water thicken. Slowly pour the OJ while whisking into the mixture, turn the heat to Medium and let simmer until it's slightly thick. Stir in red pepper flakes, garlic and Agave Nectar and let simmer again. Add fried cauliflower to the mixture and toss or a slight stir into the sauce. Once the Cauliflower is covered, pour into a dish and serve.
