5 tips to create a daily Yoga Practice
Yoga has become a necessary part of my life. It helps me to focus and remember to breathe when I am in tight situations. What I work with daily is creating balance. In talking with a friend we spoke about how most of the time we get what we focus on and the rest kind of falls by the wayside. An example is when focusing on creating Money, we generally lose sight of our Health, when focusing on Parenting or Relationships we lose ourselves and when focused on our Health we often forget to keep our finances in check. Creating balance is a beautiful dance between making all of these a priority. It is possible to make a LIFE doing what you love and a consistent Yoga practice is a good place to start. Here a a few tips to get you going.
1. Stretch before getting out of bed daily:
Doing this daily will get you in the habit of moving your body consistently and you will be conditioning your mind and body for movement. Eventually this will spark the fire to wanting to move every day.
2. When you are sitting still whether it be watching TV, sitting at your desk or driving, practice deep breathing. Breathe in through the nose and out through the nose to start and sit up straight while doing this:
Breath work is an integral part of Yoga practice and life. No matter whether you choose to start Yoga doing Vinyasa, Ashtanga or Kemetic practices this will help with preparing your mind to push through those STRANGE positions that you will want to get out of right away.
3. Pick ten minutes out of your day, at the same time everyday to sit in solitude:
Taking time for yourself to be in peace and quiet will be so helpful when you start doing Yoga. Yoga is definitely a self love practice and picking the same time everyday to do something for yourself creates discipline.
4. Look up a YouTube video of a Yoga class, watch and attempt to practice that once a week on the same day at the same time:
More discipline! This will also lead you to finding a good Yoga class and Teacher. The more you practice a thing, you will eventually be calling that into your life.
5. Lastly, seek out people who have a regular Yoga practice and find a practice partner:
Truth is, whether we like it or not, Birds of a feather flock together. If you are around people who practice Yoga regularly, they will invite you to a class or take the time to practice with you.
