Bangin' Falafel (Vegan)
I used to think all Falafel was VEGAN! Oddly enough it's not, some people used egg whites as an adhesive (to make them stick together). I think that's completely unnecessary but it has been done. Anyway, these little things are so Yummy I couldn't wait to eat them. My mouth is watering as I am typing. I am such a foodie! People think that being a Vegan means eating Salads all day, well maybe some Vegans but not this Woman here. I love to prepare food. Always have but high blood pressure and diabetes are no fun so this works best for me. Well, let's get to it!
What you will need:
Food Processor
Ingredients:
3/4 Cup of your favorite Oil except for Olive Oil, doesn't fry well
(Grapeseed, Canola, Sunflower, Safflower)
2 15 0z cans of chickpeas, rinsed drained and dried
1 red Onion rough chopped
a handful of fresh parsley
a handful of fresh Cilantro
1/2 cup of Garbanzo Bean Flour
1 clove of Garlic
1/2 tbsp of Cumin
1/4 tsp of Himalayan Salt
1/4 tsp of Black Pepper
Directions:
It's so important to let the Garbanzo Beans dry before you use them, otherwise the recipe just doesn't turn out right. In a large heated skillet, add oil and turn the heat to a low temp.
Add the remaining ingredients into your Food Processor:
Puree until it's completely mixed and looks like small chunks, that means that it will stay in tact. Turn heat to Medium Low, shape and add falafel to the oil. Let cook until golden brown on all side, flipping and turning them as needed. Serve with Pita bread, pickles, cucumbers, garlic paste and make a mean Falafel wrap or just eat them plain. Ashe
