Black Bean Burgers

Black Bean Burgers, Black Bean Burgers, Oh how I enjoy thee! I have made these over and over again, the base is so simple that I just keep adding to it and each time it gets better and better. I like a little spice in my food so the Jalepeno Peppers give it a nice kick. There are so many things you can add to them, tomato, red beans, congac (just kidding)! There are always a winner, always!

Ingredients:

1/2 tsp of Canola or Sunflower Oil

1 15 0z can of Black Beans

1 1/2 cup of Instant Oatmeal

1 half a chopped Yellow Onion

1/2 a chopped Jalepeno Pepper (remove the seeds unless you want extra heat)

1 clove of minced Garlic

1/2 a firm tomato chopped

1/3 cup of Warm Water

1/4 tbsp of Chili Powder

1/2 tsp of Cumin

1/4 tsp of Onion Powder

1/4 tsp of Garlic Powder

1/4 tsp of Black Pepper

a Pinch of Himalayan Salt

Directions:

Pour Oats and Black Beans into a large bowl. Smush up Black Beans with the Oats (use your hands for best results, potato mashers work but it really gets nice and gooey with your hands and it's a lot more fun). Pour veggies into the mixture and mix with hands again, add Water and continue to mix. Pour seasonings into the mixture and fold them in with a wooden spoon. Add water by 1/3 cup of dry, don't add to much water or it will fall a part. Make medium size patties, don't make large patties or they won't cook all the way through. Heat a skillet over Medium High Heat, when warm add the oil when warm and let sit for about 30 secs to make sure the skillet is hot. Add patties and cook on each side for about 10 minutes with no top. Adding a top will make the burgers squishy and flavorless. Serve Hot, Warm or however you like it! Ashe
