"Man O' Man, I love Cayenne"
I love what I do! It's a pleasure to feel like I am serving my purpose on this Earth, however at times it's quite comical. Everyone has their own perspective of what an Herbalist does. Some people expect for me to hand out herbs like perscription medicines. Others think that I walk around with tea packets in my purse.
Though there are herbs that are used for urgent situations ( yes, I do love putting together herbal tea remedies), my first goal is to help an individual change what's in their cabinets and refrigerators. Herbs are not Drugs or Medicine they are FOOD. Just as much as Echinacea is a wonderful herb to keep on your shelf to rebuild the immune system so is Garlic. Garlic can be found in capsules for easier consumption but it's just as powerful in minced or whole clove form.
One of the herbs I always recommend having in your spice cabinet is Cayenne pepper. Cayenne pepper is such a versatile herb and it can be used for a countless number of common issues. It opens up the circulatory system, stops bleeding and it's fantastic for stomach problems. Cayenne is even a great source of Calcium.
As a mother of a young man (he will be twelve soon) I have learned that boys are quite rambunctious. My sun often ends up with large skin tears and nose bleeds, that's when I pull out my friend Cayenne. I pour the it right on top of the bloodied area and almost immediately it stops the bleeding. For nose bleeds, use 1/2 tsp of the herb in 3/4 a cup of water and have the child drink it down and before they finish the blood will dry up. In fact, the first time I used this remedy was the last time I had to use it because my sun or daughter (they are both pretty active) hasn't had a nose bleed in over a year. I used have to deal with one every other month it seemed.
The times when I have a "rumbley tummy" and need some quick relief I take a tsp of Cayenne and drink lots of Steam Distilled water within an hour I have an elimination and it clears right up. I have given it to children who have upset stomachs, some have bowel movements, others throw up but immediately following there's no stomach pain. The beauty of God's herbal remedies are that they do what they need to do, no two persons body responds the same but the end result is always healing.
Because Cayenne is a source of Calcium it also makes it a great herb for those stubborn vericose veins we ladies and some men deal with. A tsp of Cayenne with or without water a day over a period of time will cause those veins to detangle, open up and breath again! Those are just a few things this wonderful herb can do, try it, you may realize it's a solution for something no one has ever known about.
Peace
